News - Quebec City Book and "Bande Dessinee Festival"
2017-05-04
From April 5th to April 9th Drowsy Emperor’s “Constable Khang’s Mysteries of Old Shanghai” was featured as part of the Shanghai Animation and Manhua Association’s “Espace Shanghai” team at the Quebec International Book Fair and overlapping “Festival de BD Francophone". (BD stands for “band dessine” which roughly translates to graphic novels or comics). The festival was a great success for the Shanghai team. The Quebec City audience and organizers were a delight and it was an enjoyable experience for all. Khang author and illustrator Nathaniel Scobie met with readers at the fair and participated in media interviews. A special French language limited edition of the first two Khang books in the series created for the fair sold out and the DE team attended an awards ceremony at Quebec City’s Museum of Civilization focused on Quebec contributions to what the French refer to as “le neuvième art” (the ninth art).
(Special note to those from the Quebec City event who ordered copies of the limited edition French versions of Constable Khang books I&II for later delivery after we ran out of booksat the fair. Please contact us at info@drowsyemperor.com if you have not yet received your book).
